Object Name Polarimeter
Description Instument is a type of microscope. It sits on a three legged black iron pedestal, with a single joint. The joint is connected to a black iron cradle that attaches to the microscope tube with two thumb screws. The top of the microscope tube is a brass tube with a black metal eye piece. It spins in a nad out of it's housing. The housing has a metal arrow head screwed into the top of it Under the housing is a tuning knob made black and orange of plastic. It sits to one side of the hhousing and has two scales on it- a finer inner scale labeled Zucker % + on the top and %Elweiss - on the bottom, and a rougher outer scale labeled Grade +. Directly under the housing is a block that reads 20%/+|-\20%, with a 0 under the |. There is a mesh gear beloew the eye piece housing that correspondes to the block. A Silver metal hatched ring under the eye pieces houseing is the beginning of the main tube. There is a door on the tube that hinges at the bottom. The hinges are silver screws. At the top of the door are two silver metal pulls on either side. Below the hinge is a silver ring with + and - symboles. It is hatched. It corresponds to markings at the bottom of the main tube. At the end of the tube is an opening, on which a mirror swivels. The mirror is connected to the tube with two silver metal thumb screws.
